Filming Commences for the Jordan Liberty Project
From the 19th to 21st September 2025, filming officially commenced for The Jordan Liberty Project, as a film crew joined Jason, Dominique, and Jordan’s friends to honour what would have been Jordan’s 21st birthday.
This time-sensitive filming was made possible thanks to the generous support of the community raising crucial funds through tax deductible donations to Documentary Australia. The crew followed Jason and a group of young people as they promoted the project and raised awareness at the Outback Spiritual Festival, before gathering at Mulberry Vale Outback Retreat to celebrate Jordan’s 21st birthday milestone.
The courage and bravery shown by everyone involved, especially Jordan’s friends and the young people who took part, was deeply moving. One of the highlights was a Dancing with Spirit workshop led by Connie Rose of The Healing Academy, where, as the sun set over the Outback, participants came together to dance their grief away and discover a joyful connection with Jordan in spirit.
Jason also spoke at the festival to an audience of around 40 people, sharing his personal journey and the vision behind the Jordan Liberty Project. Having a film crew from Adelaide on the ground to document these powerful moments marks an important next step in the project’s development. This new footage, alongside existing material, will help strengthen the film’s story as we continue development, pitching, and marketing.
The filming was supported by the RFDS, Mulberry Vale, The Outback Spiritual Festival and The Ibis Styles Broken Hill who all donated in-kind support to make the weekend possible. Thanks also to the volunteers who manned the stall and assisted with the filming.
While this marked a major milestone, there’s still much more filming, editing, and post-production to go. Community support remains vital. Every donation and every share helps bring this important story to life.
Ultimately, this project exists because of the young people who continue to show up, support each other, and share how The Jordan Liberty Project is already making a difference, helping them navigate life, loss, and mental health challenges in a remote community like Broken Hill.
